So, It's Been a While. We've Been Busy...

What have we been doing all this time?

New Projects - Yep

New Challenges - Yep

Basement Upgrade

For a basement transformation into an entertainment and relaxation hub, the renovation journey starts with an empty, unfinished space that is soon filled with both style and functionality.

1. Initial Layout & Flooring:

I started by deciding on the layout. I then divided the open space into specific zones—an entertainment section, gaming area, relaxation nook, snack bar, and half-bath.

2. Walls & Wainscoting:

To add elegance and character, I suggested floor-to-ceiling wainscoting and stretched the length of the largest wall. This also created large coverage for an otherwise blank wall.

3. Game Zone:

The largest section of the basement is designated for the gaming zone, with ample space for a pool table, foosball table, and ping pong table. This area will feature ample overhead lighting and space to maneuver from zone to zone.

  • Pool Table Area: Situated closest to the snack bar and half-bath, the pool table is the space's focal point.

  • Foosball & Ping Pong: These tables are placed along the walls with enough clearance for active gameplay. A built-in shelving unit nearby holds accessories like paddles, balls, and cue sticks for easy access.

4. Relaxation Area:

Adjacent to the gaming zone is the relaxation area. Here, oversized sofas are arranged in front of a large flat-screen TV mounted within an entertainment bookcase, ideal for movie nights or watching sports games.

5. Snack Area:

A small, well-appointed snack bar is tucked into a corner of the basement, featuring a sleek granite countertop, built-in cabinetry, and a mini-fridge to store beverages.

6. Half-Bathroom:

Adding a half-bath enhances the functionality of the space. The bathroom is outfitted with a compact yet elegant design, featuring traditional wainscoting, tying in the aesthetic of the entertainment space. A compact bath vanity and a sleek mirror keep it practical and stylish.

Commercial Project - Chiropractic Office - IN PROGRESS

Logo. Kaidence Chiropractic & Wellness

I pride myself on telling the stories of clients within their spaces. This project is no exception.

Designing the Kaidence Chiropractic & Wellness office with the memory of Kaidence at its heart is a meaningful and touching endeavor. The space will not only serve as a place of healing but also as a tribute to the life and spirit of Kaidence, creating an environment where every visitor feels a sense of comfort, warmth, and connection.

3D Renders of Proposed Spaces

From Left to Right - Reception Area - Waiting Area - Patient Room

1. Reception Area

  • Welcoming Atmosphere: The reception area will be warm and inviting, with comfortable seating, soft lighting, and calming colors.

  • Functional Reception Desk: The design of the reception desk will be functional and welcoming. A curved or rounded desk will provide better flow and make the space more open.

2. Treatment Rooms

  • Comfort and Privacy: Each treatment room will have privacy and comfort for patients.

  • Soothing Colors: A soothing color palette such as soft blues, greens, or neutral tones will promote relaxation.

3. Chiropractor's Workspace

  • Efficient Layout: The chiropractor's workspace will have easy access to tools, charts, and computer systems. An ergonomic desk setup is essential.

  • Storage: Ample storage for medical supplies, equipment, and patient files ensures a clutter-free environment.

4. Color Scheme and Design Elements

  • Healing Colors: A color scheme that promotes relaxation and wellness. Soft earth tones, gentle blues, greens, or even muted pastels can foster a calm environment. Since we're keeping the memory of Kaidence alive, integrating a specific color that reminds us all of her will also bring personal significance to the space.

  • Natural Elements: Incorporating wood, stone, or greenery will enhance the connection to nature, making the space feel grounded and peaceful.

  • Artwork: Displaying artwork that reflects healing, wellness, or nature themes. Custom pieces that evoke personal memories of Kaidence will be incorporated for a more personal touch.

More to come on this incredible and heartwarming design opportunity.

Connecting with Industry Insiders

I was approached at the start of the pandemic by a company based out of Canada and was ultimately hired as a rendering artist for their up-and-coming company and to be used on their website.

The company, NIEU Cabinet Doors, is a cabinet door replacement company that specializes in budget-friendly alternatives to what can be incredibly costly.

Fast forward 4 years later and I FINALLY meet the people I had worked alongside all those years ago with many miles in between us.

They were in Chicago promoting their new partnership with Tracy Cimba of

Bespoke Design Studio located in the Wicker Park neighborhood. Here you can visit their new showroom and see their products on display.

To see how far they have come and the growth they have achieved is so rewarding.

To say their products are breathtaking is an understatement.

Tracy and her team have mastered the use of door replacements combined with base cabinets from Ikea to create stunning kitchens that look and feel over-the-top expensive yet very achievable. And yes, I've taken note. I fell in love with these doors and learned a thing or two about the unbelievable capabilities of using door replacements instead of blowing up a budget by using stock cabinets.

I cannot wait to start using all of these gorgeous options in my next projects.
